The Westie or the West Highland Terrier, is known for having a friendly and jolly disposition. The nobles, landed gentry, farmers of the British Isles all faced the same problem, rodents that pillaged grain store. The solution was the development of a vast array of terriers, or “earthdogs,” that were grate at finding rats.
The exact beginnings of the Westie’s forerunners are, in the poetic words of one historian “cloaked within the mists of the Scottish hills.” By 1896, when thebreed was first shown at Scottish dog shows, it was known as the West Highland White Terrier, referring to the Northwest part of Scotland where Westies earned their fame.
A soft flower is placed over their hearts are as a symbol to show how we love them unconditionally as part of our family.
